Laura Lee and Matt Crandall are the core of Midwest Mixtape. They met while attending the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Conservatory of Music, married a few years later, and have been creating music together ever since.
Laura Lee Crandall is a drummer and vocalist. She has a BA in Percussion Performance from UMKC and is happiest when sitting behind a drum set! She loves to play many genres, including rock, pop, country, jazz, and blues.
Laura Lee is originally from Oklahoma but has long considered Kansas City her home.
Matt Crandall performs saxophone, guitar, bass, and sings. He has a Music Education BA and MM from UMKC and teaches high school in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Matt is a member of the 312th Army Band out of Lawrence, Kansas.
